Hibiscus Flower: Hibiscus has long been revered as a heart tonic and has been shown to reduce cholesterol and help lower high blood pressure. It is thought to work like an ACE inhibitor by reducing sodium levels without affecting potassium levels, and it is very safe. Hibiscus is also loaded with antioxidants and has been used to nourish and soothe tissues in the body.
Marshmallow Root: Marshmallow is known as a nourishing herb that can promote tissue healing, and has been used as a helpful supporting herb for treating infections and inflammatory conditions in the body.
Spearmint: Spearmint makes for a subtle yet flavorful addition to this tea blend. Milder than peppermint in flavor and action, spearmint has been used to quell indigestion and its related symptoms which may help to ease reflux and heartburn.
Rosehips: Rosehips are known to have cardiotonic properties and are rich in flavonoids that may help to strengthen capillaries.
Hawthorn: Hawthorn is a beloved heart and circulatory tonic herb. Hawthorn contains constituents that are known to relax and dilate the arteries and increase blood flow to the heart, reducing symptoms of angina and preventing heart attacks. These same constituents are also highly antioxidant and help to prevent/reduce degeneration of blood vessels. Hawthorn has been used to improve the body’s ability to heal after a heart attack. Hawthorn has been shown to have a normalizing effect on blood pressure and can help to lower high blood pressure, and steady the heartbeat. Hawthorn may also help to lower bad cholesterol levels.
